CME 485: Senior Design Project II (Spring 2021)
Main Post
Josh and Austin working on filament winding main post. First attempted post had 60 wraps.
Austin, Josh, and Dave working on last main post to filament wind at 100 wraps.

Posts were then cut down according to sizing and testing needed
Resin coated onto the wound carbon fiber tow.
Spokes
Hand rolling uniaxial carbon fiber prepreg into wooden dowel.
Dylan working: Dowels were then shrink taped then heated in oven for 2-hours.
Austin sanding down dowels for appropriate sizing to fit into attachment components
Applied outer resin coating layer to ensure high strength -performing composite rods. Custom made mini filament winders were used.

CNC Maching and Hand Layup
Dylan working as machine drills holes into wooden block accordingly.
Spencer working as machine cuts a curve onto wooden plank for a nice curve fit on top band.
The final spoke connector after cutting, spray painted, screwed in, and the section of the spoke it connects.
Tooling part used for hand lay-up of top band to get perfect circular shape
