Nepalese Momo Dumplings Recipe
Momo dumplings are a popular Nepalese dish, typically filled with a mixture of seasoned ground meat or vegetables, wrapped in dough, and then steamed. Here's how to make them:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground chicken, pork, or beef
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package dumpling wrappers (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground meat, chopped cabbage, onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, chili powder (if using), salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each dumpling wrapper.
- Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold the wrapper over the filling and pinch the edges together to seal.
- Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Arrange the momo dumplings in a steamer basket, making sure they are not touching each other.
- Steam the dumplings for 10-12 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are tender.
- Serve the momo dumplings hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as soy sauce mixed with a little vinegar or chili sauce.
